Inherent Vice Inspired Art Exhibit at The Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles

Now that most of you have had your hearts and minds spun every which way by Paul Thomas Anderson's surf noir Inherent Vice — and if you haven't, you now have an assignment (you can holler us out @acehotel for the pro-tip) — and you've been lulled, had panic attacks, and partied to Jonny Greenwood's scores for the past few Anderson films, it's time to bring it all back home. Our friendly hotels are filled with art to celebrate one of our Very Favorite Films (VFFs), opening in theaters across North America on Friday, January 9. This dispatch is long, you can skip around if you want.

We've teamed with Warner Bros. to help release Mr. Greenwood's Inherent Vice Original Score at our spots in DTLA, NYC and LDN. With the score, we're putting on some art shows because A) we can, and B) you'll want something special to do when you're staying with us (besides nabbing free limited edition vinyl — more on that below).

Contemporary Psychedelic Art LA: featuring eye-popping work by John Van Hamersveld, The Haas Brothers, Steven Harrington, Alia Penner, Travis Millard, Lili Lakich and Dustin Stanton.

                      Opens: January 5

                          Press/VIP night: January 6

                              Run Time: January 5–11

Location: Segovia Hall at Ace Hotel Downtown LA

All shows are free and open to the public. Everyone who books a room during the show will receive a limited edition vinyl copy of highlights from Jonny Greenwood's Inherent Vice Soundtrack (NONESUCH RECORDS). (And lucky you — we have in-room phonographs ready and willing.) We'll see you there.

INHERENT VICE is the seventh feature from Paul Thomas Anderson and the first ever film adaption of a Thomas Pynchon novel. The film stars Oscar nominees Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin and Owen Wilson; Katherine Waterston; Oscar winners Reese Witherspoon and Benicio Del Toro; Martin Short; Jena Malone; and musician Joanna Newsom. Oscar nominee Paul Thomas Anderson directed the film from a screenplay he wrote based on the novel by Thomas Pynchon. Anderson also produced the film, together with Oscar-nominated producers JoAnne Sellar and Daniel Lupi. Scott Rudin and Adam Somner served as executive producers. Anderson’s behind-the-scenes creative team included Oscar-winning director of photography Robert Elswit, production designer David Crank, Oscar-nominated editor Leslie Jones, and Oscar-winning costume designer Mark Bridges. The music is by Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood. Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with IAC Films, a JoAnne Sellar/Ghoulardi Film Company production, INHERENT VICE. INHERENT VICE opened in limited release in Los Angeles and New York on December 12, and expands on January 9, 2015. The film is being distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company. The film has been rated R for drug use throughout, sexual content, graphic nudity, language and some violence.
